The sync hot shoe with an X contact and TTL function for Canon cameras is particularly convenient for remote flashing, especially with two flashes or for studio work with cameras that do not have an X contact. Via the hot shoe you can connect a sync cable to your camera, also when it does not have an X contact, even if you want to keep the compact flash attached to your camera. The hot shoe has TTL contacts and transfers the camera’s data to the compact flash. That way you can use all the advantages of TTL measuring and trigger a second flash at the same time.
